The Kennel Club recognises DNA tests and schemes in conjunction with Breed Clubs and laboratories, some of which are recorded by the Kennel Club on the registration database and are available to view via the online tool Health Test Results Finder. The pdfs attached show the DNA tests available for each breed worldwide, along with an indication as to whether the test is part of the Assured Breeder Scheme (required or recommended) and whether it is recorded on the Kennel Club registration database. Please note that DNA tests are not yet available for every breed.
It should also be noted that some of the tests and laboratories listed in these documents are not necessarily part of official Kennel Club testing schemes. Other laboratories may carry out the DNA tests listed but the results cannot be recorded.
Results from laboratories that do not send results directly to the KC require owners to submit these themselves, which can be done by scanning and emailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All information contained in these documents is correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of recording:
Please not that DNA tests for prcd-PRA and CEA/CH carry patents exclusively licensed to OptiGen which means that only results issued by OptiGen for these tests can be recorded by the Kennel Club. However, Genetic Technologies (Animal Network) in Australia and Paw Print Genetics in America have a sublicence to carry out these two tests.
Also a variety of European laboratories including VHL, Antagene, Laboklin and Animal DNA Diagnostics send samples to OptiGen for testing in the USA. All samples tested at OptiGen will be issued OptiGen reports that may be passed to the Kennel Club.
Please refer to the laboratory websites for further information.
