Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour (KCAI)

Choosing the right dog training instructor is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for you and your dog. To help you find competent and qualified dog trainers, the Kennel club maintains a register of Accredited Instructors.

These dog trainers have been assessed against the Kennel Club standards to ensure that they are able to provide quality service and advice. They are required to abide the KCAI Code of Practice (you can view this under ‘downloads’ to the right of this page). To find a Kennel Club accredited dog training instructor, go to ‘Find a Kennel Club Accredited Instructor’ below.

The Scheme recognises and promotes competent and qualified dog training instructors and canine behaviourists, working across a wide range of canine disciplines, for the benefit of the dog-owning public.

If you are a dog training instructor or canine behaviourist interested in joining the Scheme, please click ‘Become a KCAI Scheme Member’ below.

The scheme offers its members the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised, vocational accreditation award, based on standards set by the Kennel Club. It is the only scheme for dog training instructors in the UK that is externally verified by City and Guilds the UK’s leading awarding organisation in the land-based sector – encompassing animal care.
