
AGILITY TEAM GB SECURES SERIES OF MEDALS AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Agility Team GB are celebrating a successful effort at the 2025 Agility World Championship (AWC), bringing home three medals – two silver and one bronze - across individual and team competitions. The World Championship, which took place in Kalmar, Sweden, from 17 – 21 September, saw hundreds of handlers and dogs competing from 39 different countries across the globe.
Martin Reid, from Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, with his Shetland Sheepdog, Selfie (Ag Ch Get It With Eager To Work), won a silver medal in the Small Individual competition, while Shannon Springford, from Sittingbourne, Kent, and her Border Collie, Banter (Ag Ch Zhanisgo Give It Some Banter) also secured a silver medal in the Large Individual competition.
A bronze medal was also awarded to the Intermediate Team, made up of: Lee Gibson, from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, with his Border Collie, Star (Ag Ch Euro Star); Euan Paterson, from Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, with his Border Collie, Crazee (Ag Ch Devongem Quick Time); Toni Smith, from Nottingham, with her Border Collie, Febe (Ag Ch Cherryhog Bright Future); and Steven Richardson, from Wigton, Cumbria, and his Border Collie, Gamble (Ag Ch Moel Gamble Demonic Risk).
Agility Team GB Manager, Greg Derrett said: “The AWC concludes another successful year for Agility Team GB achieving some phenomenal results in both the overall medals and class results. This group of handlers have continued to strive to improve, and it has been a pleasure to be their Team Manager.
“This year Agility Team GB has dominated the small with two golds, a silver and a 4th placing over the four competitions. We have also won medals in all other heights and it’s very pleasing that we are continuing to deliver results.”
Agility Team GB consisted of 24 dogs, including reserves, who were selected following the try-out events which were held earlier in the year at Dog Sports Derby in March 2025.
Agility Team GB is supported by The Kennel Club, Natural Instinct, SWAG K9, Galican and Dog Sports Derby.
