Agility Team GB shines with trio of medals at European Open Championships

The Kennel Club would like to congratulate Agility Team GB on their success at the FCI’s European Open Agility Championships in Abrantes, Portugal, which concluded this weekend, and saw the team win two gold medals and one bronze.

Agility Team GB competed over three days at the Championships, with handlers and their dogs showing an impressive level of skill across both team and individual competitions.

Medals were won in the following competitions: 

Gold Medals:

  • Liz Naylor, from Whitchurch, Shropshire with her Working Cocker Spaniel, Ag Ch Devongem Bright Skye at Hornspike (Skye) in the Small Individual competition.
  • Team GB Equal Parts in the Small Team finals. The team was comprised of Katrina Hands and Ag Ch Set the Pace of Summergarden (Sizzle), a Shetland Sheepdog, from Forfar, Angus; Dylan Osborne and Ag Ch Devongem Well Jelly Baby (Jelly), a Cocker Spaniel, from Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire; Liz Naylor and Ag Ch Devongem Bright Skye at Hornspike (Skye), a Working Cocker Spaniel, from Whitchurch, Shropshire; and Martin Reid and Ag Ch Get It With Eager To Work (Selfie), a Shetland Sheepdog, from Leamington Spa, Warwickshire

Bronze Medal:

  • Summer Clark, from Lincolnshire, with her Cocker Spaniel, Tuftihed Fly Like An Eagle AW(D) (Arrow) in the Medium Individual competition

The team were chosen following the two try out days which were held at Dog Sports, Derby in March.

Agility Team GB is supported by The Kennel Club, Natural Instinct, South West Agility Goods, Dog Sports Derby and Galican.

Agility Team GB Manager, Greg Derrett, commented: “Competing in Portugal brought several new challenges, and I am very proud of the team and how they performed while representing Great Britain and The Kennel Club at this year’s European Open Championships.

“Winning both Team and Individual Gold medals in the Small height category is an unbelievable achievement and has achieved a major goal for Agility Team GB.”
