A Yorkshire Terrier from Spain wins place in Crufts Best in Show final

Conan, a Yorkshire Terrier from Spain, won the Toy Group title at Crufts 2022 today (Saturday 12 March), qualifying him for a place in the Best in Show final tomorrow evening.

Conan (CH Royal Precious JP’s F4 Conan), aged six, and bred by Yoshiko Obana, will return to the Resorts World Arena at the NEC in Birmingham having earned a place in the final at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts, with his handler, Sergio Amiens.

People around the world will be watching to see which dog is crowned Best in Show on Sunday evening as the final is shown live on Channel 4 and streamed on the official Crufts YouTube Channel.

Over 16,000 dogs are competing over the four days for one of just seven places in the Crufts final and a chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs.

Proud handler Sergio said: “I'm still shocked! We enjoyed our time, Conan did a great job! He loved the arena at Crufts, he felt free. Conan is the most sweet and kind dog you can imagine. He loves to sit in your lap and kiss you! We have been waiting two years for this Crufts. I am shocked we've won!

"Fingers crossed for Sunday, but I'm already so happy with the result."

Vanessa McAlpine, Crufts Show Manager, said: “We are pleased to see Conan chosen as the Toy Group winner today. Sergio and Conan should be extremely proud of this lifelong achievement in earning a spot in the prestigious Best in Show final.

“Crufts celebrates healthy, happy dogs and recognises the special and unique bond between dogs and their owners. Conan demonstrates all the qualities that make a great dog and the relationship between him and Sergio could be seen by all.

“The final tomorrow evening will be a tough but incredible show and we want to wish Conan and Sergio the best of luck in the ring.”
