Gloucestershire Labrador Wins Kennel Club Retriever Field Trial

A six year-old Labrador Retriever bitch from Gloucestershire has won the Kennel Club Open Retriever Field Trial, held at the Blankney Estate, Lincolnshire.

Windoogpack Coral, known as Whisky, owned by Clare Baker who lives near Bourton-on-the-Water, was awarded first place at the competition, which saw talented working Retrievers tested on their natural working ability.

The judges chose the following winners at the trial:

  • 1st – Windoogpack Coral, Labrador Retriever, owned and handled by Clare Baker
  • 2nd – Waterford Integrity, Labrador Retriever, owned and handled by Jayne Coley
  • 3rd – Diglake Charlie, Labrador Retriever, owned and handled by Stephen Newitt

Clare Baker said: “I am absolutely elated that she won and I am so proud of my little girl.  She’s very soft but has been quite tricky to train, but we have kept plodding away and it’s a dream come true to win.”

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “Congratulations to Clare and Whisky on a great performance. The level of talent we see in working Retrievers is exceptionally high so Clare should be incredibly proud of Whisky for coming out on top.  We wish them every success in the future.”
