Agility Team GB – Safeguarding Officer (Junior Team Only)

Role Outline

The key role of the Safeguarding Officer is to write, advise on, and maintain safeguarding protocols for the management team and Kennel Club staff involved with the Junior handlers. 

The safeguarding policy should cover procedures and protocols for;

  • Team selection events
  • Team training events
  • The duration of the Junior Open Agility World Championships
  • Coaching staffs online training and contact
  • Social media conduct

Additional Tasks

  • Communication link between the coaching team and parents
  • A first point of contact for parents and the management team to share any concerns or seek advice on safeguarding concerns
  • Help and support handlers and parents to ensure they are a fully prepared team member, both prior to the championships and at the event itself
  • Ensuring that all the management team and Kennel Club staff in contact with children have received appropriate information on safeguarding issues
  • Advising on the best safeguarding practice’s and being kept up to date with any changes in the policies
  • Responsible for the support of the well-being of team members at the Championship
  • Involved in the planning and running of Junior Team selection events

Logistics

The Safeguarding officer in regard the JOAWC will be required to attend all selection and training events and the championship.

Fee & Expenses

For attending JOAWC a £300 fee will be paid by the Kennel Club.

Petrol costs will be covered for attending training sessions and events in the UK.  Additional travel and living costs such as flights, car parking and hotels will be covered but must be agreed in advance with the Team Manager and receipts provided, alternatively these may be booked directly by the Kennel Club.  Living expenses to an amount agreed by the Kennel Club will be provided where you are required to stay away from home.

Summary

The Safeguarding Officer will play a vital role in the integrity of Agility Team GB, ensuring the safety and welfare of all Junior handlers whilst involved with any activities or time related to Agility Team GB.
