Already Judging at CC level

The NEW Judges Competency Framework will be coming into effect as of January 2020. To find out more click here

If you are already judging a breed at CC level the Training Board recommends that you keep up to date with the latest developments in your breed.

The judge's role in monitoring the health and welfare of dogs is paramount and judges should access the Health resource pages and Breed Watch to understand their responsibilities and keep abreast of emerging conditions.

Kennel Club Rules, Regulations and guidance to judges change from time to time and if you have been judging for some years it can be difficult to keep on top of all the developments.  The Kennel Club now has learning resources available on the Kennel Club Academy for the mandatory seminars in order to refresh your knowledge and any recent updates.

If you would like to judge an additional breed(s) at CC level it is recommended that you find out what criteria the breed club or council for that breed expects.  These judges are required to:

  • 5 years judging experience.
  • To awarded CCs in at least one other breed.
  • For Gundog Breed Council/Club/Societies only. To have attended any Field Trial or an Open Gundog Test (GWT) for a Gundog Breed in the relevant sub-group.

Breed clubs, societies and councils will also have their own criteria they expect judges to achieve if they are to be recommended to judge by that club or council, please contact them for more information.
