Crufts 2018 - Good Citizen Dog Scheme Displays
National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham - 8th -11th March

We would like to offer you the chance of taking part in the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme displays at Crufts 2018. The Scheme is looking to recruit individual handlers to represent Puppy, Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards at the show.

Anyone taking part in the Good Citizen Dog Scheme displays with a dog will be allocated 1 free entrance pass for themselves and their dog and 1 additional pass to bring an assistant or helper with them.  A car park ticket will also be provided for the day you are attending and a polo-shirt to wear during the displays.

As this is a Kennel Club licensed event, all dogs participating in the displays must be over 6 calendar months and under ten years of age. All dogs attending must possess a sound temperament with people and other dogs.  

We are also looking for volunteers each day to help give out poop scoop bags at the entrance and in the car parks. Anyone taking part as a volunteer (poop scoop/car park patrol) will receive a free entrance pass and a goody bag.

SILVER TEAM HANDLERS & DOGS - MIDLANDS

To attend Crufts on 2 days - Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March 2018

The selection session will take place at Calf Heath, Wolverhampton. Further practice sessions will take place in Penkridge, Staffordshire and Calf Heath Wolverhampton. Dogs selected must have achieved their Silver Award or above to be eligible and be able to conduct all aspects of the Silver exercises to a high standard. As handlers will be partaking in a rehearsed display team, those selected for these teams must be available to attend all further practice sessions detailed below. Each person selected to take part will receive per attendance day, a free pass for themselves and their dog, a car park pass (if required) and a complimentary pass for a person to accompany them.

GOLD TEAM B - HANDLERS & DOGS - WEST YORKSHIRE

To attend Crufts on 2 days - Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th March 2018

The selection and practice sessions will take place in Netherton, Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Dogs must have achieved their Gold Award to be eligible and be able to conduct all aspects of the Gold exercises to a high standard. As handlers will be partaking in a rehearsed display team, those selected for these teams must be available to attend all further practice sessions detailed below. Each person selected to take part will receive per attendance day, a free pass for themselves and their dog, a car park pass (if required) and a complimentary pass for a person to accompany them.

PUPPY FOUNDATION TEAM 

To attend Crufts on 1 day only

Thursday 8th OR Friday 9th OR Saturday 10th OR Sunday 11th March  

We are looking to find 36 individual dogs (9 per day) and handlers who are willing to participate in the Puppy Foundation display for one day only. Puppies should ideally be aged 6 - 8 months at the time of the show. Any breed of dog is acceptable. Handlers must be physically able to partake in 3 display sessions throughout the day. The handler and dog team would need to meet the following criteria: 

  • A sound temperament with other dogs and people.
  • Puppies may have completed their Puppy Foundation Award but must NOT have passed their GCDS Bronze Award.
  • Puppies should be between ideally aged between 6 – 8 months at the time of the show.
  • A sense of humour is vital!

 

BRONZE TEST CANDIDATES

To attend Crufts on 1 day only

Thursday 8th OR  Friday 9th OR Saturday 10th  OR Sunday 11th March

We are looking to find 32 individual dogs (8 per day) and their handlers who are newly enrolled members of a dog training club and are willing to participate for one day only. The handler and dog teams will be taking part in a live testing session at the show in the afternoon, following a warm up display in the morning. Any breed of dog is acceptable but handlers must be physically able to partake in 3 sessions throughout the day. The handler and dog team would need to meet the following criteria:

  • A sound temperament with other dogs and people.
  • The dog must NOT have passed a GCDS Bronze Award (Puppy Foundation is acceptable).
  • The dog must be over 9 months of age on the first day of the show
  • A sense of humour is vital
  • Handlers must be aware that they may not gain their Bronze Award certificate on the day if the dog does not reach the required standard for each exercise.

Each person selected to take part  in the Puppy Foundation displays or Bronze Award test will receive a free pass for themselves and their dog, a car park pass (if required) and a complimentary pass for a person to accompany them.

 

VOLUNTEERS POOP SCOOP/CAR PARK PATROL

To attend Crufts on 1 or more days

Would you like to assist the Scheme in a part time working capacity and gain a free entrance and car park ticket? We are looking for volunteers each day that would be willing to give out poop scoop bags to exhibitors in the show entrances and surrounding car park areas. Help is required each day between 6.30am and 9.30am. Applicants can offer to volunteer for up to 4 days if desired.

Anyone participating as a volunteer will be allocated a free entrance pass for themselves, a car park ticket (if required) and a goody bag for each day they attend.
