The Conference will be held at the Chesford Grange Hotel, Kenilworth, Warwickshire CV8 2LD on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September 2021. The start time will be 09:30 and will finish at 17:00. Bringing together experts in dog health, breed community representatives, judges and owners, to share knowledge and open up discussion on pertinent topics in dog health, to bring about collaboration and improve the health, well-being and welfare of dogs now and in the future.

Please note, the programmes for both themes will run simultaneously and delegates will only be able to attend their chosen theme.

Theme 1 – Health, welfare and breeding
This theme will consist of four seminars with interactive workshop aspects for group discussion. Please note this programmed is subject to change.

  • Seminar one: How do we breed healthy dogs?

    Looking at the big picture for dog health. Speakers Dr. Dan O’Neill, Senior Lecturer in Companion Animal Epidemiolog, Royal Veterinary College

  • Seminar two: Are breed standards really responsible

    How do breed standards impact health and what role do we play in avoiding this. Speakers Dr. Alison Skipper, Veterinary Surgeon and Welcome Trust PhD student

  • Seminar three: Talk and Workshop Session

    Is DNA really the answer? What does it tell us, what are the limitations and what does the future hold. Speakers Dr. Joanna Ilska, Quantitative Geneticist at the Kennel Club

  • Seminar four: Talk and Workshop Session

    The heart of the matter. A look at heart health, screening and key things we need to consider. Speakers  Dr. Hannah Stephenson, Specialist Veterinary Cardiologist

Theme 2 – Health and welfare in canine sports

This theme will consist of four seminars with interactive workshop aspects for group discussion. Please note this programmed is subject to change.

  • Seminar one: Science behind Performance

Registration on the day
Registration will be from 8:30am, please check in with The Kennel Club staff who will also give you your delegate pack and name badge. The Conference will commence promptly at 09:30am and will conclude at 17:00pm.

Catering
Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day and a buffet lunch will be served.
