A dog from Kent triumphed at Crufts by winning the Young Kennel Club (YKC) Stakes competition on Sunday 8th March.
Dylan (Tullacrest Signd Syld Delivered To Bilyara), a five-year-old Border Collie, and his owner, 22 year-old Sarah Stacey, beat other talented young handlers and their dogs to be crowned the winner of the YKC Stakes competition at the world’s greatest dog show.
YKC Stakes qualifying classes were held at championship shows across the UK in 2019, where competition was fierce.
Sarah co-owns Dylan with Karen and David Angier, from Sheerness, Kent, and took the top prize after having been placed as a runner-up for the past two years. This was Dylan’s last year competing as he will be retiring from Crufts.
Dylan’s owner Sarah said: “Dylan is five now so he is going out on a high. I will compete with one of my other dogs next year, but I’m not sure which one yet.
“Dylan is absolutely loveable. Karen and David do all the grooming the night before and I do all the training and showing. We had the semi-finals on the Saturday, followed by the final on Sunday. It was very hard work but worthwhile.”
Vanessa McAlpine, Crufts Show Manager, commented: “Huge well done to Dylan and Sarah for their fantastic win. They should be so proud of their achievements and we look forward to seeing Sarah handle more dogs at Crufts in the future.”
