JCF survey at Richmond and Darlington shows

29th August 2019 - 4:10 PM

Exhibitors and judges attending Richmond and Darlington championship shows will have the opportunity to have their say on the Judges Competency Framework (JCF) as part of a survey on the JCF, the Kennel Club has confirmed.

The survey will form the first part of a public consultation which was mentioned initially in a Kennel Club announcement of July 26 in which it was stated that the Board has approved the establishment of a robust Kennel Club consultation for the JCF which will be open to all involved in pedigree dog shows. This along with the work of the JCF review panel will inform the Board’s decisions on the future education and training of dog show judges.

Richmond championship show takes place at Loseley Park near Guildford in Surrey from September 6 – 9 and Darlington championship show will be held the following week at Ripon Racecourse in North Yorkshire from September 13 - 15.

Vivid Interface Research, whose representatives will be wearing appropriate ID badges, have been commissioned by the Kennel Club to survey anyone attending these two shows to give their feedback on the current judge education and approval system as well as the JCF.

Tony Allcock OBE, Kennel Club Chairman, said: “We have chosen Richmond and Darlington shows so as to give a wide geographical spread. Representatives will be at the shows on all days, so please seek them out if they do not approach you first.

“The Kennel Club has used Vivid Interface Research previously, when it was gathering information more than five years ago for the Dog Show Promotion Working Party, so we are very keen that as many judges and exhibitors as possible help us again by answering the questions. Your opinion is very important so please ensure you give it.”

The results of this initial survey will help to shape the development of the public consultation which will be issued in October, full details of which will be announced in due course.
