Scottish Kennel Club to hold JCF events in Scotland

In a move designed to make judges’ education as accessible as possible for Scottish candidates, the Scottish Kennel Club (SKC) is planning to host Judges Competency Framework (JCF) events in Scotland, beginning in 2019, the SKC and the Kennel Club have announced.

Following discussions between SKC Convener, Stuart Payne and Jeff Horswell on behalf of the Kennel Club, the Scottish Kennel Club has agreed to hold a JCF Eye for a Dog assessment early in 2019. In addition to this and subject to demand, the SKC will be hosting JCF breed competency assessments, for aspiring CC judges at Scottish shows.

This collaboration will in a number of instances mean that Scottish candidates need not travel to  the Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh Park for all the assessments they may wish to take, thus reducing travel costs and long journeys.

Stuart Payne, SKC Convener, said: “The Scottish Kennel Club is delighted to be working alongside the Kennel Club to bring as many JCF events to Scotland as possible. The SKC wishes to ensure that judges are given every opportunity to progress fully in Scotland and this partnership will ensure this becomes a reality.”

Jeff Horswell, JCF working party chairman, said: “The Kennel Club is very pleased to be taking the JCF to Scotland to help judges in that country. We thank the SKC for suggesting that we do this and are delighted that we have been able to work in partnership with the SKC. This is exactly the sort of collaboration we would like to build on to make the JCF as accessible as possible across the UK.”

The date for the Eye for a Dog assessment in Scotland will be announced in due course.
