A two-year-old bitch from Cheshire has won the Kennel Club 16 Dog Novice Cocker Spaniel Field Trial, held at Stean, Yorkshire by kind permission of Lord Vestey and the kind arrangement of Mr Ian Openshaw. The judges at the trial were Messrs S Seward, A Hopkins-Young and D Sutherland and Ms K Ward.
Glenugie’s Prospect, known as Koko and owned by Jason Waldron from Winsford, was awarded first place at the competition which saw talented working Cocker Spaniels tested on their natural working ability.
Jason said after the event: “It is an amazing feeling and I am thrilled to have won today with Koko.’’
The judges chose the following winners at the trial:
- 1st – Glenugie’s Prospect owned and handled by Mr J Waldron.
- 2nd and Gun's Choice – Chyknell Anna owned and handled by Mr S Burman.
- 3rd – Starry Skye of Farlavale owned and handled by Mr R M Kay.
- 4th – Kiltonbeck Helga owned and handled by Mr S D Winspear.
Certificates of merit were awarded to Kiltonbeck Rollo, owned and handled by Mr S D Winspear, and Buccleuch Innes, owned by the Duke of Buccleuch and handled by Mr D Lisett.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “Field trials such as this one are an opportunity for dogs to display the working attributes for which they were bred. We offer our congratulations to Jason on his success with Koko and wish them all the best for the future.”
