Handling Training Day For Young Kennel Club Members

Twenty four Young Kennel Club (YKC) members are to be given a unique opportunity to boost their canine training skills ahead of Crufts 2015 and attend a special handling training day in Penicuik, Scotland on 7thFebruary.

Taking place at the Ladywood Leisure Centre, 14A Yarrow Court, Penicuik, Scotland, EH26 8HD, the event will offer the opportunity for YKC members to train their dogs in handling with high profile trainers Helena Hutchings and Ashley Place.

Helena Hutchings was a top winning junior handler and won the UK Junior Handler of the Year competition several times along with numerous handling titles at European shows throughout her career.

Ashley Place was also a top junior handler, winning the Scottish Handler of the Year competition and finishing runner up in the UK Junior Handling Association Finals.

Throughout the day, YKC members will be able to find out more about ring etiquette, showmanship presentation, basic control and pattern work, and stance and teeth work. The day will end with a fun competition.

Gerald King, Chairman of the Young Kennel Club said: "Our YKC events are very popular, as they are a fantastic way for young people to develop and perfect their skills. The young people taking part get so much out of them and often make new friends."

The day's training costs £20 per YKC Member, and members under 18 years old need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Places are limited and completion of an application form does not guarantee a place. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. All applicants will be informed by email if they have secured a place.
