The Kennel Club is the largest organisation in the UK devoted to promoting dog health, welfare and training.  We run the world’s largest dog event, Crufts as well as the UK’s largest registration database for pedigree and crossbreed dogs and the Petlog database, which is one of the UK’s biggest reunification service for microchipped animals. 

We are looking for an experienced HR generalist to join our busy HR team based in our London headquarters. This is a full time, permanent position offering a competitive salary and wider benefits. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire employee lifecycle and acting as first point of call for all HR and payroll related queries to provide expert and timely professional advice. You will be exposed to a fast paced working environment, dealing with complex caseloads such as grievances and disciplinary issues whereby you can continue utilising and expanding your skill set.

Excellent IT skills is required, including the ability to use a range of relevant software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Previous experience of maintaining a HR database is essential and the ability to run reports from the system.

The ideal candidate should have proven generalist experience including the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels.

Additionally, you may also be required to undertake payroll processes, such as, but not limited to the processing of starters, leavers, changes to terms and conditions of employment, overtime, attachment of earnings, adjustments in conjunction with our payroll bureau.

You must have a passion for HR, be pro-active, self-motivating and have excellent influencing and negotiating skills. Strong written and verbal communications skills along with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels is essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy, prioritise a busy workload, and have the ability to work with limited supervision as well as work well as part of a team. It is crucial in this role that you maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy at all times. You will ideally be fully or part CIPD qualified.
