The Membership of the Kennel Club consists of a maximum of 1,500 UK Members plus 200 Overseas Members and a small number of Honorary and Honorary Life Members.

A candidate must be proposed and seconded by members of the Club who have at least one year's standing, unless the candidate is an Associate (or Council Associate) of the Kennel Club of at least five years' standing, or the candidate has been an Affiliate and an Associate for at least two years and three years respectively, in which case no proposer or seconder is required.
