A12 disciplinary case – Mr G Newton

At its meeting on 28th February 2018, the Kennel Club Disciplinary Committee considered the conviction of Mr G Newton, from Leamington Spa Magistrates Court for common assault on 1st November 2017 arising from an incident at the English Toy Terrier Club Show on 1st April 2017.

The committee noted that a conditional discharge for twelve months, costs of £135 and compensation of £50 was imposed by the Magistrates Court.

The committee noted that Mr Newton admitted the offence and has already taken mitigating actions by withdrawing from the English Toy Terrier (Black & Tan) Club management, show management and judging. The committee recognised that the conviction was based on the guilty plea from Mr Newton and a conditional discharge was imposed by the court.  The committee endorsed Mr Newton’s voluntary withdrawal from his respective posts, and to reflect that position the committee imposed the following penalties:

1

To disqualify him from acting as an Officer or serving on the committee of any canine society

A11 j (6)

2

To disqualify him from taking part in the management of any event licensed by the Kennel Club.

A11 j (7)

3

To disqualify him from judging at any event licensed by the Kennel Club

A11 j (8)

The above listed disqualifications are to be for one year from 1st November 2017.
