Improvements Being Made to Kennel Club Building

The Kennel Club Building, the UK's only purpose built, completely dog friendly venue, is undergoing a major refurbishment to help improve its efficiency.

Work is progressing to modernise the insulation, heating and lighting systems at the building at Stoneleigh Park following the recent installation of solar panels.

The improvements are being overseen at the site by Kev Clinkscales, the newly-appointed caretaker of the building, which is run by the Kennel Club Educational Trust.

The Kennel Club Building is the only venue in the UK created for canine educational needs, from dog shows and training sessions to seminars and meetings, and supports the charity’s aim of providing opportunities to educate the public about dogs and responsible ownership.

The building is used by dog clubs from all over the country and is home to local groups including Leamington Dog Training Club, and the newly-founded Stoneleigh Rally, which offers tuition in rally, the growing sport derived from competitive obedience.

The fully-equipped meeting rooms and large exhibition space within the 2,700 sq m building are also available to hire for non-canine events.

Gerald King, chairman of the Kennel Club Educational Trust, said: “This is the first major refurbishment of the Kennel Club Building since it was opened at Stoneleigh Park in 2009 and is expected to be completed in February.

“In addition to the new solar panels, insulation, heating and lighting, we are also updating the IT equipment, redecorating and making improvements to the show rings outside the building.

“The significant investment being made will benefit the environment as well as those using the centre, with the improved heating and lighting making the surroundings far more comfortable.

“With its facilities and central location at Stoneleigh Park, the building is well used throughout the year with many shows and events at weekends.  We are hoping that these improvements will attract even more users throughout the week.”

LaSalle Investment Management, which manages Stoneleigh Park, has supported the improvements by undertaking works on the roof and guttering.

Colin Hooper, estates director at Stoneleigh Park, said: “The Kennel Club is a prestigious occupier at Stoneleigh Park and the refurbishment of its centre for educational excellence will greatly enhance its offering to all users.

“The work supports LaSalle’s on-going transformation of Stoneleigh Park to ensure the growth and prosperity of the site.”
