The following changes have been made to the Young Kennel Club Obedience rules and regulations which will take effect from January 2017.
The changes have been introduced to address a number of issues in the existing classes and encourage new interest from both members and clubs.
The main changes are highlighted below:
- The classes have been reduced in number from five to three to bring the structure in line with existing obedience.
- The class names have been changed to Basic, Novice and High Flyers to differentiate the old rules and exercises with the new structure.
- Removal from G Regulations will allow the YKC to hold YKC Obedience Classes at their own events as well as KC Licensed Open or Championship shows.
The purpose of the restructure is to encourage young people to take part in obedience, to make sure that more clubs and societies hold classes and to make it easier for judges to understand the rules.
The new rules and regulation changes were approved by the Kennel Club Activities Sub Committee. A copy of the changes are available upon request.
