Author and Irish Terrier Enthusiast Lucy Jackson Presents Arabella Dorman Portrait to the Kennel Club

Earlier this month author and illustrator Lucy Jackson presented the Kennel Club with a portrait of an Irish Terrier, painted by internationally renowned portrait painter and war artist Arabella Dorman. The presentation took place on Wednesday 16th November at the Kennel Club in London.

Lucy Jackson gave a welcome speech before presenting the painting of Liberty Belle to Chairman Simon Luxmoore, who accepted the work on behalf of the Kennel Club. Keen Irish Terrier enthusiast, Ms Jackson told guests how “delighted” she was to be donating a painting to the Kennel Club art collection.

Esteemed actor and Irish Terrier owner Sir Derek Jacobi CBE, recited one of Ms Jackson’s poems, ‘The Terrier’. Sir Derek’s partner, actor Richard Clifford, followed the reading with a recital of another of Ms Jackson’s poems, ‘Ode to a Sleeping Puppy’.

The painting will join the Kennel Club’s extensive art collection which includes work from Maud Earl, Richard Ansdell, George Earl, Arthur Wardle and Cecil Aldin, as well as significant items on loan including Sir Edwin Landseer’s ‘A Distinguished Member of the Humane Society’.
