Skiffle, a 6 year-old Border Collie, and his owner Lucy Creek from Stratford-upon-Avon, West Midlands won the Heelwork to Music Freestyle Final at the 125th anniversary of the world's greatest dog show, Crufts.
Lucy and Skiffle (Harriot Skiffle King) beat nine other finalists to win the Heelwork to Music Freestyle Final on Thursday 10th March. The other nine dogs included one of Lucy's other dogs, a Beagle named Teasel, who placed fourth in the competition.
Each year Crufts hosts the finals of both heelwork to music and freestyle competitions. All advanced level dogs and handlers can qualify for Crufts by entering one or more of a series of qualifying events held throughout the year.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, commented: "Heelwork to music is a wonderful activity that demands a lot of time, patience, skill and talent to perfect. Participants devise routines of up to four minutes, set to music, and perform the routines with their dog taking centre stage and following the routine.
"Congratulations to Lucy and Skiffle. Their routine was of the highest standard and demonstrated the skills and dedication needed from dog and owner at this advanced level."
