Why have you chosen to enter with a Dogs Trust rescue dog?

Last year I thoroughly enjoyed the competition with my Dogs Trust Rescue dog, Bouncer. I am sure that this year will prove to be even better, and I am excited to meet my canine companion and hope I can help find him or her their forever home.

What are your favourite characteristics in a dog?

Energetic, loyal and fun. But, of course, these qualities are always best managed when a dog is properly trained so that both the dog and the owner can have a happy life together.

Why are dogs the best companion animals?

They are always there for you when you need them- dogs truly are a man’s best friend.

What dog welfare issues do you think need tackling?

I think it is important that owners are responsible about where their pups are from. We need to crack down on puppy smuggling, and it is time that we acknowledge the issues of some pedigree breeding which can cause harmful health defects for our four-legged friends.

What role does training and socialisation play in a dog’s life?

Training and socialisation are vital to making sure that a dog has a long and happy life. Without good training and making sure your dog can interact with their canine counterparts, the dog might become unsociable- and that’s no fun for anyone

Why should you and your Dogs Trust rescue dog be crowned Westminster Dog of the Year 2017?

My rescue dog should be crowned Westminster Dog of the Year because he/she is everything a good dog should be, and he/she deserves the best possible chance of finding his/her forever home!
