What are your favourite characteristics in your dog?

Cuddly, funny, adventurous

What dog welfare issues do you think need tackling?

Ban the use of electric shock collars under all circumstances.

Are there any changes you’d like to see to legislation governing the use and sale of fireworks?

There should be tougher regulation around the sale of fireworks for smaller displays, in favour of larger community organised events.

How do you think both dog owners and non-dog owners can reduce the impact that fireworks have on dog welfare?

Notify neighbours who are dog owners, in advance, if planning a small fireworks display in the garden, and help raise awareness of comforting techniques for dogs who are afraid of fireworks – to help reduce their distress.

Why should your dog be crowned Holyrood Dog of the Year 2019?

Cuillin is an adventurous puppy with lots of character. From climbing trees to climbing mountains, he’s already seen lots of Scotland in his first year! He loves cuddles and his cheeky nature makes everyone who meets him easily fall in love with him. Cuillin is also a good advocate for the natural environment and if crowned Holyrood Dog of the Year, will promote safe and responsible enjoyment of the outdoors for the benefit of dogs and their owners.
