What are your favourite characteristics in your dog?

He has a fantastic nature and character, and love radiates from him to all family members. Buster is always cheerful and has a very expressional face. He loves going for long walks in the outdoors, which benefits us both.

What dog welfare issues do you think need tackling?

I want to tackle the issues of illegal breeders and puppy farms. In addition, I am a supporter of the campaign Take a Lead for dog owners to be responsible to prevent dogs attacking livestock, as there has been increasing incidents in my area.

Are there any changes you’d like to see to legislation governing the use and sale of fireworks?

Yes, I would like to see the restriction in the length of time that fireworks can be sold around November 5th and the New Year.

How do you think both dog owners and non-dog owners can reduce the impact that fireworks have on dog welfare?

Both dog owners and non-dog owners can follow Dogs Trust’s ‘Firework Dog Code.’

Why should your dog be crowned Holyrood Dog of the Year 2019?

Buster is a real ambassador for his breed, as he is really friendly and extroverted. He regularly attends Scout Camps and is beloved by all members of the Scout group. He plays a special and vital role in reassuring and comforting members of the group who are on the autistic spectrum.
