What are your favourite characteristics in your dog?

Friendly, happy nature.

What makes your dog such a great animal?

Not the brightest dog but definitely loveable!

What dog welfare issues do you think need tackling?

Charlie has been pictured in a lot of the publicity material in the successful campaign against electric shock collars.  He is now hoping to take this battle to Westminster and has been pictured with SNP MPs as part of their campaign.

What role should training and socialisation play in a dog’s life and what is your top training tip?

Charlie has always responded well to a training regime which centred on praise and affirmation. He is a very sociable dog – both with people and other animals too… And recently I’ve learned that he loves getting his photo taken as well!

Why should your dog be crowned Holyrood Dog of the Year 2018?

As I say, Charlie has been at the forefront of one of the dog welfare issues of the year - banning the use of electronic shock collars in Scotland! If he was crowned Holyrood Dog of the Year it would help to draw even more attention to that important cross-party campaign - and it would also help to highlight the current campaign in Westminster to ban the sale of such awful devices across the UK.
