KCAI Benefits and Support © Andrea Gates

The KCAI Scheme is the UK's only national and international, credible and externally verified qualification in this field recognised by City & Guilds.  Not only will you receive an externally recognised qualification one of many canine fields, there are many other benefits too of becoming a KCAI Scheme member!

Benefits of joining the KCAI Scheme

  • Protect your reputation with the badge of quality - All KCAI Scheme members sign up to a strict Code of Practice and the Kennel Club deal very seriously with any complaints or grievances. The safety and welfare of dogs is key in all that we do as well as ethical business practice. You can find the full Code of Practice for Scheme members here.
  • Every member is assigned a Regional Mentor to offer additional assistance when working through the scheme.
  • Access to the Member Zone area on the KCAI section of the Kennel Club website, where you can access online educational resources and all current KCAI paperwork.  A username and password is generated and emailed to you when joining the Scheme.
  • Materials such as the KCAI Scheme Workbook which will guide you through the Scheme. The KCAI Scheme Workbook is available in several different formats including a deluxe colour folder, USB stick and FREE download from the KCAI Member Zone
  • The KCAI Standard; a quarterly glossy newsletter which is a great educational resource that is full of KCAI news and inspirational stories, directly through your letterbox.
  • Access to the KCAI Facebook Group. This is a great way to interact with other members and chat about all things KCAI Scheme related. The group is for active KCAI members only.
  • Discounts on educational resources and supporting materials such as the KCAI 'Jargon Busters' - covering titles such as "Behaviour and Learning Theories', 'Health and Vaccinations' and 'Law and Responsibilities', as well as the KCAI CPD Diary.
  • Members of Kennel Club Registered or Listed Status Clubs are automatically guaranteed a 10% discount off the joining fee to the Scheme.
  • KCAI Members who are part of a Kennel Club Registered or Listed Status Club will receive a green "Working towards Accreditation" badge next to their club on our Find a Dog Club website, which turns to gold once the member is accredited.  Clubs that hold a KCAI badge next to their name will appear at the top of the list when someone is searching for dog training clubs in their area.
  • This year the KCAI Scheme launched the Trainer of the Year Award, where members of the public were asked to nominate their clients and KCAI Instructors to be considered for the award.   This is a fantastic opportunity for pet owners to express their gratitude to any KCAI Instructors who have helped them and their canine family, with the winner announced at Crufts 2015. Nominations are now closed for Trainer of the Year but in 2015/16, it could be you!
  • KCAI members are eligible to get discounts to fantastic Kennel Club run educational events such as the annual KCAI Try Out, Take In and Teach Education weekend and the Kennel Club Canine Sports Seminar.  KCAI Scheme Members also have the benefit of priority booking for the KCAI Career Zone, which takes place annually at Crufts.
