Already Judging at CC level

The NEW Judges Competency Framework will be coming into effect as of January 2019. To find out more click here

If you are already judging a breed at CC level the Training Board recommends that you keep up to date with the latest developments in your breed. The judge's role in monitoring the health and welfare of dogs is paramount and judges should access the Health resource pages and Breed Watch to understand their responsibilities and keep abreast of emerging conditions.

Kennel Club rules, regulations and guidance to judges change from time to time and if you have been judging for some years it can be difficult to keep on top of all the developments.  The Kennel Club runs a refresher course on Requirements of a Dog Show Judge for existing CC Judges from time to time.  If this could be useful to you, check the Training Seminars Diary or look for announcements on this website or in the dog press.

If you would like to judge an additional breed(s) at CC level it is recommended that you find out what criteria the breed club or council for that breed expects.  To learn more about what the Kennel Club advises clubs, societies and councils about the formulation of judging lists and how to set the relevant criteria download the Advisory Criteria for Breed Club Judging Lists here.

Clubs, Societies and Councils will also organise Breed Specific Seminars from time to time to help aspiring judges develop a detailed knowledge of a breed.  Details of some of these can be found in the Training Seminars Diary.  The Kennel Club has issued advice to clubs and societies about the best way to run Breed Specific Seminars and what information should be included - this is available in the Club Administration section in the Activities part of this website - follow the link for more information.
