Crufts Displays

 

Dear Good Citizen Co-ordinator,

We would like to offer your club members the chance of taking part in the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme displays at Crufts 2017. The Scheme is looking to recruit individual handlers to represent Puppy, Bronze and Gold Awards at the show. Details of the individuals required are enclosed with this correspondence and can also be found on our website www.gcds.org.uk

Anyone participating in the Good Citizen Dog Scheme displays will be allocated free entrance passes for themselves and their dog and an additional pass to bring an assistant or helper.  A car park ticket will also be provided for the days they are attending and a polo-shirt to wear for the displays.

As this is a Kennel Club Licensed event, all dogs participating in the displays must be over 6 calendar months and under ten years of age. Furthermore, all dogs attending must possess a sound temperament with people and other dogs

Closing dates for receipt of application forms are as follows:

Gold Team A (West Midlands): Wednesday 11th January 2017

Gold  Team A (West Yorkshire): Wednesday 18th January 2017

Puppy Team Applications: Friday 20th January 2017.

Bronze Test Applications: Friday 20th January 2017.

Volunteers: Friday 20th January 2017.

Crufts 2017

The Good Citizen Dog Scheme is looking to recruit individual members from a variety of clubs to form part of the Gold display teams. Each team will be required to attend Crufts on separate days. Dogs selected for the Gold teams must have achieved their respective award levels and be able to conduct all aspects of the exercises to a high standard. As handlers will be partaking in a rehearsed display team, those selected for these teams must be available to attend four further practice sessions.

GOLD TEAM A - HANDLERS & DOGS

WEST MIDLANDS

To attend Crufts on 3 days: Thursday 9th, Friday 10th and Sunday 12th March 2017

Practice sessions will take place near Solihull, West Midlands and Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.

BRONZE TEST CANDIDATES

Thursday 9th OR Friday 10th OR Saturday 11th OR Sunday 12th March 2017 (1 day only)

We are looking to find 32 individual dogs (8 per day) and their handlers who are newly enrolled members of a dog training club and are willing to participate for one day only. The handler and dog teams will be taking part in a live testing session at the show in the afternoon, following a warm up display in the morning. Any breed of dog is acceptable but handlers must be physically able to partake in 3 sessions throughout the day. The handler and dog team would need to meet the following criteria:

  • A sound temperament with other dogs and people.
  • The dog must NOT have passed a GCDS Bronze Award (Puppy Foundation is acceptable).
  • The dog must be over 9 months of age on the first day of the show
  • A sense of humour is vital
  • Handlers must be aware that they may not gain their Bronze Award certificate on the day if the dog does not reach the required standard for each exercise.

Each person selected to take part will receive a free pass for themselves and their dog, a car park pass (if required) and a complimentary pass for a person to accompany them.

PUPPY FOUNDATION TEAM 

Thursday 9th OR Friday 10th OR Saturday 11th OR Sunday 12th March 2017 (1 day only)

We are looking to find 36 individual dogs (9 per day) and handlers who are willing to participate in the Puppy Foundation display on one of the four days. Puppies should ideally be aged 6 - 8 months at the time of the show. Any breed of dog is acceptable. Handlers must be physically able to partake in 3 display sessions throughout the day. The handler and dog team would need to meet the following criteria:

  • A sound temperament with other dogs and people.
  • The puppy must NOT have passed a GCDS Bronze Award. (a pass Puppy Foundation pass is acceptable).
  • Puppies should be between ideally aged between 6 – 8 months  at the time of the show.
  • A sense of humour is vital!

Each person selected to take part will receive a free pass for themselves and their dog, a car park pass (if required) and a complimentary pass for a person to accompany them.

VOLUNTEERS

CAR PARK PATROL– (ANY DAY)

Would you like to assist the Scheme in a part time working capacity and gain a free entrance ticket? We are looking for volunteers each day that would be willing to assist in staffing the show entrances between 6.30am and 10.00am, to give out poop scoop bags to show exhibitors.

Anyone participating as a volunteer will be allocated a free entrance pass for themselves and a car park ticket.
