Responsible Dog Ownership

The purpose of the Kennel Club Responsible Dog Ownership campaign is to promote and encourage responsible dog ownership to all individuals and their communities as an antidote to negative attitudes surrounding dog ownership.
The Responsible Dog Ownership campaign, focuses on the need for dog training, particularly through the Good Citizen Dog Scheme, cleaning up after your dog, pet identification and the encouragement of ethical treatment of dogs by preventing them suffering and possibly even dying over the summer months, in cars.
As the first port of call on all canine matters, the Kennel Club supports Responsible Dog Ownership within local authorities through sponsorship campaigns.

Don't Cook Your Dog campaign
Dogs are extremely sensitive to the heat and should never be left in a car alone, even on a fairly warm or cloudy day. Surprisingly, leaving a car window open or supplying water makes little difference and the dog will suffer, as a car can quickly heat up to around 50°C. Watch our video below to find out more.
