Is your breed rescue a cover star - Kennel Club launches 2020 Breed Rescue Calendar

The Kennel Club is launching its annual Kennel Club Charitable Trust Breed Rescue Calendar for 2020 and is asking for anyone who owns a breed rescue dog to submit a picture and reason why their dog deserves to feature on the 2020 calendar. Last year a Beagle called Ralph was chosen as the cover star. Ralph had ended up in rescue due to his behaviour towards other dogs but had been helped to overcome his issues making him a very worthy winner.

The calendar will feature images of 12 rescue dogs and the Kennel Club is asking for people to submit their worthy winners. All those chosen will be invited to a special ‘photoshoot’ to take place at the Kennel Club offices in Aylesbury on July 27th where not only will they have photographs taken by a professional dog photographer for the calendar, but they will also be given their own prints to keep as well.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “Over the years we have had some wonderful dogs in the Kennel Club Breed Rescue calendar. We are delighted to develop the competition further to include a photoshoot as part of the prize for the finalists and are also excited to announce that those entered will also be shortlisted for the Kennel Club Friends for Life competition which will take place at Crufts 2020.”

“Kennel Club Breed Rescue organisations do such fantastic work with thousands of dogs being rehomed a year and we hope the calendar will help to encourage people to consider rescuing a purebred dog who needs a permanent home, whilst also raising money for the Kennel Club Charitable Trust, which supports and funds rescue and rehoming organisations.”

Entries for the competition close on the 25th June. As well as winning the photoshoot and being shortlisted into the Friends for Life competition, all rescue organisations with dogs featured in the calendar will receive £50 from the Kennel Club Charitable Trust, and the overall cover star winner will receive £100.

The Kennel Club Breed Rescue calendar will be on sale throughout Discover Dogs which will be taking place on the 12th and 13th October at ExCeL London and through the Kennel Club online shop from October. All proceeds go to the Kennel Club Charitable Trust to 'make a difference for dogs'.
