Agility Dog Training Day For Young Dog Lovers In York

03 May 2017    15:56

Young dog owners are invited to improve their dog agility skills by attending a fun training day in Tockwith, York organised by the Young Kennel Club (YKC).

The YKC Dog Agility Training Day will take place at Bracken House on Sunday 21st May 2017. The day is open to YKC members aged 6-24 years, who compete regularly in agility.

The day is the perfect opportunity for members to practice their skills with their dog ahead of any agility competitions, particularly for those members heading to the European Open Junior Agility Championships being held in Luxembourg on 13th-16th July.

Members will be taught by senior YKC member Jess Clarehugh, who has competed internationally, winning silver and gold medals for YKC Agility Team GB when they won the silver medal in 2014 and gold overall in 2015. Jess also received a silver overall individually at the World Agility Open in the pentathlon class in 2015.

Gerald King, YKC Chairman, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for our experienced young agility handlers to practice ahead of the upcoming season. The day will be a lot of fun, but it is also a chance for our members to make lifelong friendships and continue to develop an even stronger bond with their dogs.

“Many thanks to Jess Clarehugh for sharing her agility expertise with our members. We hope everyone who attends learns some new skills and enjoys the day.”

The Young Kennel Club is the Kennel Club’s group for young dog lovers aged from 6-24 and members can take part in dedicated events and activities that educate young people in the care and training of dogs in a fun and friendly environment.
