The Kennel Club has announced the winners of three prestigious annual field trial awards – the Routledge-Rank Retriever Perpetual Challenge Cup, the Hanlye Trophy and the Gavosie Gundog Trophy.
Field trials competitors were encouraged to submit points gained through wins at Kennel Club licenced field trials throughout the 2016/2017 season for the chance to win these awards.
For the Routledge-Rank Retriever Perpetual Challenge Cup, competitors could claim points for first, second or third places at field trial championships and one day or two day stakes and the winners have been named as:
- The Routledge-Rank Retriever Perpetual Challenge Cup, for the owner of the retriever who gained the most field trial awards from the preceding season, was won by Ms Clare Baker with FT Ch Windoogpack Coral, a Labrador Retriever.
- The Hanlye Trophy, for the breeder of the dog which is awarded the Routledge-Rank cup, was won by Mr M Goodwin.
For the Gavosie Gundog Trophy, competitors could claim points for any award at a field trial and the winner has been named as:
- The Gavosie Gundog Trophy, for the lady gundog handler who has gained the most points in field trials from the preceding season, was won by Ms Carol Calvert.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said: “The Kennel Club sends congratulations to the winners of these three highly-coveted field trial trophies. Handlers working their dogs in the field is a very satisfying activity as it highlights the work for which these breeds were originally bred, so we wish all competitors well for the forthcoming season.”
The submission of points is now open for the 2017/2018 season awards. To enter points, field trials competitors can download the claim form here and complete the points table.
Points must be submitted by 28th February 2018 to the Field Trials department, The Kennel Club, Clarges Street, London, W1J 8AB, or alternatively may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Unfortunately, late submissions cannot be accepted.
