Young Kennel Club Launches New Learning and Development Courses For Members

The Young Kennel Club (YKC) is offering its members the chance to take part in two brand new learning and development courses in association with Kingswood Inspired Learning. The courses aim to boost confidence, problem solving, communication and leadership skills in all those who attend.

There will two different courses available, each open to different age groups. Adventure Choice, which is open to members aged 18-24 years, will be held at Grosvenor Hall, Kent on 14th – 18th August; and Realise your Potential, which is open to members aged 16-17 years, will be held at Dearne Valley, South Yorkshire on 29th August – 2nd September. Ten places will be available for each course.

The courses are set to develop personal and academic skills which will help members in their future, focusing on areas such as teamwork, confidence, communication, problem solving, leadership and project management.

After taking part, members will be able to utilise the skills they have developed to help organise training days and events held by the YKC to further their experience in the dog world.  Volunteer opportunities can include experiences such as helping with the Crufts Ring Party, Dog Training, Membership Promotion and Judging.

The course is funded by the Kennel Club and includes full board and accommodation, meals, activity programme and evening entertainment.  Members will need to pay for their travel to and from the centre. The closing date for applications will be 28th April 2017, and members will be contacted in due course if successful.

Speaking about the new courses, YKC Chairman, Gerald King, said: “We are thrilled to offer these two new learning and development courses to our members. This is an amazing opportunity for them to hone their skills which will set them up to achieve any personal or academic goals in life, and more importantly give them a brighter future in the dog world.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Kingswood Inspired Learning, and hope that the members who attend enjoy every moment.”
