Kennel Club Question Time Pays a Visit to Cumbria

25 November 2016    09:40

Dog owners in Cumbria and surrounding areas were able to ask questions of the Kennel Club and enter into discussions covering a number of hot topics within the world of dogs this week when the Kennel Club’s Question Time event paid a visit to Penrith.

The panel members comprised Simon Luxmoore, Kennel Club Chairman; Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary and Communications Director; Kathryn Symns, Canine Activities Executive; Mark Cocozza Kennel Club Board Member; and Glen Dymock of the Kennel Club press office.

The Kennel Club’s Question Time evenings aim to give dog owners the opportunity to air their views, ask questions and find out about the latest issues that may affect them and their dogs. They have been held throughout the UK for over a decade, with the previous event held as recently as September, in Belfast.

The latest Question Time was held at the North Lakes Hotel and attracted more than 60 dog owners whose questions covered a wide range of topics including the Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme, potential property projects involving the Kennel Club, Junior Warrant points and eligibility, A3 judging seminars, partnership shows, Crufts judges, advertising puppies for sale on the Kennel Club website, breed club judging lists, health testing, brachycephalic breeds and the Kennel Club’s newly-acquired show venue at Chepstow Racecourse.

Caroline Kisko said: “The Kennel Club was delighted with the response we received for this event from the dog-owning community in Cumbria and surrounding areas. A very lively and constructive debate took place and we are especially grateful to those people who had travelled from as far afield as the West Midlands in England and Edinburgh in Scotland to be with us. This just goes to prove how devoted to their canine interests people around the UK are.”

The Kennel Club plans to hold more events of this kind in the future and would welcome ideas for areas to cover and venues. Please contact Susan Sampson on susan.sampson@thekennelclub.org.uk with any suggestions.
