Heelwork To Music Training Day Returns For Young Kennel Club Members

24 March 2016    11:00

Young Kennel Club (YKC) members are being given a unique opportunity to boost their heelwork to music skills by attending a special training day with high profile trainers in Oxfordshire on Saturday 23rd April 2016.

Taking place at The Dog Barn in Banbury, Oxfordshire for the second year in a row, the event will offer the opportunity for YKC members aged 6-24 years who are both new to or experienced in heelwork to music.

The day will see experienced trainers Lucy Creek and Claire Hitchins train young members to gain or enhance their heelwork to music skills.

Multiple Crufts heelwork to music and freestyle winner Lucy Creek works dogs at advanced level in both disciplines. Fresh from yet another Crufts win, Lucy has also had the opportunity to represent Great Britain in both disciplines. Claire Hitchins often represents Wales in the international heelwork to music competition at Crufts.  She works one dog in advanced freestyle and has another young dog who has worked her way up to intermediate heelwork to music.

Both women are very knowledgeable and members are sure to learn a great deal whilst training with them.

The day consists of six sessions; a skills assessment, impulse control and motivation exercises, trick session, choreography games, music movement and a prop-trick session.

There are 30 training places available and the cost for the day is £30 per member.  If the training day is full, you can ask to be added to a waiting list. Entries close on the 21stApril 2016.

Jane Fullbrook, YKC Events Co-Ordinator said: "We are delighted to continue to offer YKC members unique opportunities that will further their skills and handling experience, and we are thrilled to welcome back Lucy Creek and Claire Hitchins.

"Those attending the day will have the pleasure of learning from these two talented women. Lucy has yet again won the heelwork to music freestyle and international final at Crufts this year and Claire is an experienced heelwork to music trainer so they will be learning from the best."
