Entries on the Day and Proof of Posting

01 June 2016    15:00

The Kennel Club wishes to remind exhibitors of its Proof of Posting (POP) policy.

The Kennel Club is aware that on occasion entries do get lost in the post. However, a small number of exhibitors may be exploiting the Proof of Posting system by various means.

In order to address this unsportsmanlike behaviour, the Kennel Club uses a Proof of Posting database which lists everyone who makes an entry on the day of a show, and, in particular, whether Proof of Posting was provided on the day. The Kennel Club will contact exhibitors who have not provided Proof of Posting or Proof of Online Entry following the show.

If an exhibitor is found to have been entered onto the database twice, they will be notified that, should they make a further entry on the day of a show, the matter may be referred to the Committee and could result in the disqualification of awards. If subsequent entries on the day are made, the only proof of posting that will be accepted is the Show Society’s confirmation of receipt or an email receipt from an online entry company or a copy of a bank statement. Repeat offenders will be obliged to send their future entries by recorded delivery or enter online.

Exhibitors who have experienced having their entries lost in the post may also wish to consider entering online or sending their entries via recorded delivery. In this way, exhibitors can be certain that their entries have been received and there will be an opportunity to resubmit entries prior to the closing date should any future postal problems arise.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “No one likes to think of exhibitors circumventing the rules, but sad to say there will always be a small minority of people who do this. It is for this reason that these measures concerning proof of posting are in place to ensure a level playing field for all.”
