Young Kennel Club Offering Work Experience Placements At Kennel Club Headquarters

During the months of July and August, Young Kennel Club (YKC) members aged 16-24 years will have the unique opportunity to get hands-on experience by taking part in work experience placements at the Kennel Club headquarters in London.

YKC members will be given the opportunity to experience a range of roles in different departments at the Kennel Club including health and breeder services, marketing and public relations, events, canine activities and human resources.

Although these are unpaid roles, the experience is invaluable; it aims to build confidence and offer real-world experience whilst making good contacts for the future. Senior YKC members looking to build a career in the dog world and who want to learn valuable skills are encouraged to apply.

Jane Fullbrook, YKC Events Co-Ordinator said: "We're really excited to offer work experience placements to our Senior YKC members this summer. This is a fantastic opportunity for both YKC members and the Kennel Club itself - not only do our members get hands-on, real world experience and the opportunity to gain new skills for their future, but the Kennel Club will also benefit from a fresh perspective and mutual respect with the next generation of dog show judges, competitors and managers."

All roles are based in the Kennel Club's Mayfair office for a period of 1-2 weeks during July and August. Members must be 16 years or over and the Kennel Club will contribute towards travel costs (within reasonable distance). To register an interest in volunteering, please complete the form on the YKC website and a member of the HR department at the Kennel Club will be in touch.

The closing date for applications is Friday 3rd June 2016.

The opportunity is open to YKC members only. Anyone interested but not yet a YKC member, should visit www.ykc.org.uk for more information on joining.
