Kennel Club Announces Amendment To The Young Kennel Club Handling Entries

28 October 2015    09:00

The Kennel Club has announced, with immediate effect, a suspension to the regulation which stipulates that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before being entering in a Young Kennel Club (YKC) handling class.

The decision is the result of the work of the Kennel Club's Dog Show Promotion Working Party, which is looking at ways to improve and increase the popularity of dog shows. It is hoped that this regulation will encourage additional entries from young people who may not wish, or be eligible to enter their dogs in the scheduled breed classes for some reason.

The Young Kennel Club has published a Frequently Asked Questions sheet to assist show societies and exhibitors with the implications of this new policy. This can be found on the YKC website at

Please note that this regulation does not apply to Junior Handling Association classes.
