Eukanuba Discover Dogs Is An Excel-lent Success In New Home

More than 27,000 people flocked to ExCeL London over the weekend to visit the Kennel Club's Eukanuba Discover Dogs event, for the first year in its new home. In total, 27,272 dog lovers enjoyed a great fun day out whilst learning about over 180 breeds of pedigree dog, enjoying the shopping at hundreds of trade stands and watching a wide variety of displays and competitions. 

In addition to the ever popular pedigree dog breed booths, this year Eukanuba Discover Dogs hosted a series of 'firsts' to delight crowds, including hosting famous dogs of Instagram for people to have their selfies taken with, the Canine Rugby World Cup display team and the K9 Quackers duck herding display. 

Visitors were able to see dog lovers taking part with their pets in competitions such as the Junior Warrant Winner of the Year semi-finals, junior handling, agility and Young Kennel Club agility and grooming.

Vanessa McAlpine, Kennel Club Events Executive, said: "We sincerely thank everybody who was involved in making this year's Eukanuba Discover Dogs such a success. To achieve such a high attendance figure when an established show has moved to a new venue, at a new earlier date, and when competing with the Rugby World Cup, is a remarkable achievement.

"We could not have done it without our sponsors, Eukanuba, our marvellous breed booth and breed rescue volunteers, trade stand exhibitors, ring volunteers, judges and competitors and everybody else who gave up their time to make the event so special."

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: "Eukanuba Discover Dogs is not only a fun date in the calendar of all dog lovers but it is such an important one, helping to raise awareness about the importance of choosing the right breed, from a responsible breeder or rescue centre, so that we can ensure that all dogs get a loving home for life.  

"Those volunteers who came along to promote their breeds on the breed booths should be tremendously proud that they helped promote the breed they love to so many dog fans, which will help to ensure that more people go on to buy a puppy responsibly from a good breeder.

"We are delighted to reach so many people through this event, and hope that visitors who are thinking about getting a dog came away armed with the information needed to make the right choice when it comes to which breed will be suited to their lifestyle."

Next year's Eukanuba Discover Dogs is expected to take place on October 22nd and 23rd at ExCeL London.
