Agility Team GB New Coaching And Support Team Members

The Kennel Club has announced four new coaching and support team members for Agility Team GB.

The new coaching and support team members are:

  • Marc Wingate-Wynne is the new Team Assistant, whose key role is to work closely with the coaching team, the handlers and sponsors. Marc will also assist with the team, offering advice to the Team Manager and other team members at international performance events and will help planning ad-hoc training sessions to build a strong and as mentally prepared a team as possible.
  • Martin Cavill is Technical Coach, whose primary role is to pull together support team activities associated with the dog/handler performance and development and to coordinate their activities within the support team.
  • Maria Johnston will move from temporary to permanent Team Physiotherapist, and is well known and respected amongst agility competitors for helping many top agility dogs over the years to both regain and maintain full fitness through her expert physiotherapy and hydrotherapy skills.  Maria is a Level 3 TTouch Practitioner, with an Advanced Certificate in Veterinary Physiotherapy (IRVAP), an Advanced Certificate in Hydrotherapy, and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT).
  • Nicky Grant joins in a newly created role of Team Physiotherapist (Special Projects) which recognises the increased focus on both dog and handler fitness at international level, and whose prime responsibility will be to carry out research into programmes to increase our knowledge in these areas. She will work closely with the Team Vet, Rachel Mowbray, Team Physiotherapist, Maria Johnston and Handler Fitness Coach, Ruth MacGill. 

Mark Laker, Agility Team GB Manager, said: "I'd like to welcome Marc, Martin, Maria and Nicky to Agility Team GB. I'm looking forward to working with the new team who bring their unique skills, experience and knowledge to these roles."

It's encouraging to know that there are many skilled people in the agility community who want to be involved with Agility Team GB. The Kennel Club would like to thank everyone who applied."
