Clarification on Calculating class eligibility – Regulation amendment

23 November 2015    11:34

The Kennel Club General Committee recently approved the following amendment to Regulations F(1)9.i. and F(A) to clarify that when exhibitors make an entry they must estimate the number of awards won up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of postal entries, and not the online closing date.

Regulation F(1)9.i.

'In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of postal entries shall be counted when entering for any class.'

Regulation F(A)

'In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of postal entries shall be counted when entering for any class.' (Additions in bold)

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said "Whilst these regulations have always referred to postal closing dates, it was felt that with the increasing popularity of online entries the regulations should be clarified to avoid any ambiguity. In order to maintain the integrity of dog shows, it is fundamental to ensure that all dogs are competing on a level playing field and therefore class eligibility must be calculated consistently by all participants."

Further information on eligibility requirements can be found on the Kennel Club website at www.thekennelclub.org.uk/media/494542/sh126_exhibitors_faqs_1.pdf.

Show societies are advised that the Kennel Club specimen schedules have been updated to reflect the amended regulations, which come into effect from 1st January 2016.
