West Sussex Agility Star Wins British Open At Crufts

09 March 2014    00:00

Zaz, a Shetland Sheepdog and Bernadette Bay from Fittleworth, West Sussex won the Kennel Club British Open for small dogs on Thursday 6th March at the world's greatest dog show, Crufts.

The international event saw the top large, medium and small dogs from different countries, which qualified at the Kennel Club International Agility Festival in August 2013, take to the ring to compete in the final. Bernadette and Zaz won in the small category after competing at Crufts in both jumping and agility. They had the fewestcombined faults in the fastest combined time, calculated over the two rounds of the final.

Proud owner Bernadette said: "Zaz and I are so delighted to have won. Zaz's mother won this same event two years in a row so we are even more proud to be continuing her legacy." Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said: "Top agility competitors from a range of different countries compete in agility at Crufts. The British Open is a unique event.

"We would like to congratulate Zaz and Bernadette. She is such a lovely dog that clearly loves competing and has a great relationship with her handler."
