Steven Richardson and his dog, Libby from Wigton, Cumbria won
the Kennel Club British Open for medium dogs on Thursday
6th March at the world's greatest dog show, Crufts.
The international event saw the top large, medium and small dogs
from different countries, which qualified at the Kennel Club
International Agility Festival in August 2013, take to the ring to
compete in the final.
Steven, aged 21 and Libby, aged seven won in the medium category
after competing at Crufts in both jumping and agility. They had the
fewest combined faults in the fastest combined time, calculated
over the two rounds of the final.
This isn't the first success for Steven; he has competed in
agility for both England and Team GB.
Proud owner, Steven said: "I'm very shocked! I really didn't
expect it. This is my first time winning a major competition at
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary said: "Top agility
competitors from a range of different countries compete in agility
at Crufts. The British Open is a unique event.
"We would like to congratulate Libby and Steven. She is such a
lovely dog that clearly loves competing and has a great
relationship with her handler."
Crufts takes place from 6 - 9 March 2014 at the NEC, Birmingham.
