'AGILITY1ST' AND 'THE DOG
BUSINESS ACADEMY ®'
The Kennel Club Accredited Instructor scheme (KCAI) is
continuing to expand its offering and set standards in education,
by announcing new partnerships with sports coaching experts
Agility1st and with The Dog Business Academy® as the scheme's
latest Preferred Education Providers (PEP).
Agility1st and the Dog Business Academy® will be joining the
Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE), Trevor Cooper's 'Dog Law
UK' and the International Animal Behaviour and Training Centre
(IABTC) who all achieved PEP status last year.
Agility1st is a programme created to develop agility instructors
and coaches at all levels of the sport, from recreational agility
instructors to professional agility trainers and coaches. The
programme is led by agility experts Steve Croxford and Mark Laker
and was launched at Crufts 2013.
The Dog Business Academy®, run by highly respected business
coach Kim Lyddon, offers seminars, webinars and workshops which are
designed to develop business, marketing and communication
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: "The KCAI scheme is
proud to announce Agility1st and the Dog Business Academy® as
Preferred Educational Providers for the scheme.
"Preferred Educational Providers were developed after we
received a considerable amount of feedback from those seeking
education in dog training, that identifying courses and seminars of
genuine quality is difficult, due to the proliferation of courses
and the prevalence of jargon in the world of education. The
KCAI scheme introduced PEP status in 2013 to address these issues
and to highlight organisations to its members which satisfied
rigorous quality criteria and assessment."
More information on the KCAI scheme modules covered by
Agility1st and the Dog Business Academy® will be announced
shortly. For further details on KCAI PEP, please visit
All the KCAI Preferred Educational Providers will be represented
at the KCAI Career Zone in partnership with Purina PRO PLAN at
Crufts from 6th- 9th March. All the Preferred Educational
Partners will be pleased to discuss how their expertise and
knowledge can benefit all those who work with dogs.
- The Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog
Training and Canine Behaviour (also known as the Kennel Club
Accredited Instructors or KCAI) is the UK's independently
recognised stamp of quality for those delivering the highest
standards of care and advice to dog owners.
- It is the first and only scheme in the UK for instructors in
dog training and behaviour to be approved by City & Guilds NPTC
- the biggest awarding body in the UK for vocational awards.
For the first time in the UK, instructors involved in teaching dog
training and advising on canine behaviour can, through the scheme,
have the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised, credible and
externally verified qualification.
- Those on the KCAI gain qualification by demonstrating a
combination of qualifications and knowledge, and their applied
knowledge, or hands on experience.
