Kennel Club Announces Scottish Seminars Taking Place For National Education And Training Month

For this year's Education and Training Month, taking place throughout November, the Kennel Club will be holding seminars throughout the UK for those wishing to further their knowledge within the world of dogs, including seminars for aspiring judges and registered societies.

As part of the Education and Training Month, four seminars will be held in Scotland over the weekend of 9thand 10thNovember as follows:

Saturday 9th November - Conformation & Movement and Points of the Dog Assessment

The Village Inn, Pitlessie, Fife

Aimed at all those who wish to develop knowledge, skills and confidence in their understanding of key aspects of Conformation Structure and Movement, the seminar complements the 'Points of the Dog' assessment and is aimed at all those involved in exhibiting and judging, and in particular those who aspire to give Challenge Certificates.  A Kennel Club attendance certificate will be presented at the end of the seminar.

Saturday 9th November - Managing a Dog Society

Scottish Kennel Club Offices, Edinburgh

The Scottish Kennel Club will host the 'Managing a Dog Society' seminar at its offices in Edinburgh. This seminar focuses on best practice guidelines, as published in the Manual for Kennel Club Registered Societies.  It looks at the effective management of a club/society through the committee working as a team.  The seminar is designed to assist existing and potential new officers and committee members or those who might be interested in being involved in dog societies. Seminar delegates will gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of all interested parties, including the Kennel Club/SKC, members of the society, committee and the public.

Sunday 10th November - Requirements of a Dog Show Judge

Gowkthrapple Community Centre, Wishaw

The 'Requirements of a Dog Show Judge' seminar focuses on providing essential knowledge and understanding of Kennel Club Rules and Regulations and Ring Procedure. It is for those who wish to develop knowledge, skills and confidence in their understanding of key aspects of Kennel Club Rules and Regulations, and is aimed at all those involved in exhibiting and judging and in particular those who aspire to award Challenge Certificates.  An examination paper on Requirements of a Dog Show Judge follows this seminar for those wishing to award CCs.  Successful candidates will receive a certificate which is a requirement for the first time CC questionnaire.

Sunday 10th November - Show Management Seminar

Scottish Kennel Club Offices, Edinburgh

This one-day seminar is primarily aimed at those who will have a role to play in the organisation of Kennel Club registered societies shows and events.  Delegates may include those elected as show officials of breed club shows.

The main focus is on show planning and administration, covering the sequence of events required from 18 months prior to the show, what is required at the show and what is required afterwards. All the most up-to-date information, legislation and Kennel Club Rules and Regulations are also included in this seminar.
