Good luck to Agility Team GB in European Open Championships

22 July 2013    13:00

The Kennel Club sends its best wishes to the members of Agility Team GB who are preparing to travel to the European Open Agility Championships, being held on the weekend of 25th- 28thJuly 2013 in Neeroeteren, situated in the north east of Belgium.

Mark Laker, Agility Team GB manager said: "With only a few days left to go, the European Open is nearly upon us. The last eight months since I was appointed Team GB Manager have flown by. The last three months since announcing the team have flown past even quicker.

"The team is looking very good. Everyone has worked so hard to get to this point and this is being reflected in the team's agility performance, their mental strength and in the way they support each other and work together. I am very confident that we will go out as a strong team and give 100% doing what we do best - top level dog agility. Bring on the show!"

Agility Team GB is supported by the Kennel Club, CSJ Specialist Canine Feeds and Eurotunnel Le Shuttle, the Kennel Club's preferred cross-channel partner. The team of fifteen handlers and their dogs and assistants will be accompanied by a strong Kennel Club support team - manager, Mark Laker; team assistants, Marc Saunders and Natasha Wise; team vet, Rachel Mowbray; chiropractor, Emma Fretwell; and events co-ordinator, Zoe Tharmasingam.

The successful handlers and dogs were chosen following a performance weekend which attracted entrants from all over the UK, and was hosted by Lincoln Agility Enthusiasts at its Open Agility Show in April 2013.  Unfortunately Anthony Clarke has had to withdraw Ag Ch Blazing Red of Rujaff from the squad due to injury. However, Anthony will still be traveling to Belgium to support the team. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the reserve large dog is also unable to attend and therefore the Large GB Blue team will compete with three dogs.
