Compulsory microchipping - Scotland

After much campaigning and the Scottish Government has committed to consulting on the introduction of compulsory microchipping of dogs.

Previously, Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs), including Cabinet Secretary Richard Lochhead, have joined with the Kennel Club and the Microchipping Alliance to promote the benefits of compulsory microchipping and the importance of keeping database details updated as part of National Microchipping Month.

The Kennel Club continue to be grateful to MSPs for their help in highlighting the importance of microchipping and the need to keep microchip details up to date and are hopeful that with its continued help and input, microchipping will also be made compulsory in Scotland, as it will soon be in England and Wales.
