Health and Breeder Services Department - Part time

A vacancy has arisen in the Health and Breeder Services Department of the Kennel Club for a Regional Breeder Assessor with the Assured Breeder Scheme.

The role is a Part time position working a minimum of 4 days per month but with flexibility to increase this dependant on workloads, It is largely a home based position and would involve inspecting the premises of the KC Assured Breeders across the North of England, and assessing their compliance with the Assured Breeder Scheme standard and their adherence to good breeding practice. The role also involves collecting evidence, compiling reports and articles for publication and liaising with the Office and with Dog Breeders to arrange visit appointments etc. A large degree of travelling will be involved.

The position would suit someone who is conveniently located, North of Leeds perhaps around Harrogate or the surrounding area, possibly in the HG, LS, YO, BD or DL postcode areas, and who is able to visit breeders located largely in an area across the North of England. It would suit someone who has considerable experience of dogs, possibly as a breeder themselves, or with experience of working with dogs, or perhaps from the veterinary sector, or in another animal or care related business. The role requires a good deal of patience tact and diplomacy, a high degree of interpersonal skills and total professionalism at all times.

The successful applicant will be personable and outgoing, must have a use of a car and of a home computer and broadband service (all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed) and must also be prepared to work flexible hours including possibly some weekends or outside or normal hours. They will also have familiarity or experience of working with inspection processes or protocols such as those adopted by BSI, UKAS or other Accreditation bodies.

A number of overnight stays may be required, whilst full training and supervision will be provided and all out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
