Crufts And The BBC Go Mobile
There will be even more opportunity to see Crufts on BBC 2 this year, with extra air time dedicated to the show for viewers over the week of the event. The coverage will again be supported by the interactive service via red button technology and, for the first time ever, Crufts will have a mobile phone service alongside the programming to launch on March 1st, a week before Crufts airs on television.
This year’s coverage promises to have something for everyone, with Clare Balding and Ben Fogle leading the presenting team supported by Matt Baker. Peter Purves, Jessica Holm, Frank Kane and Wayne Cavanaugh will be the dog experts talking the viewer through the wonderful world of dogs, a must tune in for any dog lover.
The BBC is working with the Kennel Club this year to make sure that even if you can’t make the show, you can still enjoy the event! The new mobile phone service is browsable, allowing users to view Crufts mobile content and interact anytime, anywhere – at the event or otherwise. Content available will include fun canine quizzes, interviews with Crufts presenters including Clare Balding, top tips, galleries of winners plus much more.
The BBC is also inviting visitors to send in pictures of their dog to a section called ‘Rate My Dog’. A selection will then be made available so that millions of Crufts fans can decide whether someone is a proud owner of a potential Best in Show. For all this fun, simply text CRUFTS to 81010 and the BBC will send a message containing a link to the mobile area.
Said Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary; “We are proud of how popular Crufts is with the BBC audience with over 11 million viewers watching the programme over the course of the show last year.
“This year we are very excited to be working with this new technology to ensure that everyone can enjoy everything Crufts has to offer. The event provides something for everyone and we look forward to exploring different and interesting ways of presenting the world of dogs to viewers through our relationship with the BBC.”
